Oh. My. God. This book has all the feels that wellknown authors (Colleen Hoover) are known for. But this?! I has so much steam and heat and great characters that I can't wait for Fawkes next books. This is a second chance romance you SHOULD NOT MISS!

I have mixed feelings about Alex as a person but that's honestly why I kept reading. He's flawed, obsessive, and makes some terrible decisions. At the same time, his pain feels real. Emma was easy to root for and I liked seeing her stand her ground. Looking forward to the next book because there are still plenty of unanswered questions.

I picked this up because I love second chance romances, but what surprised me was how much of the story revolves around grief and unresolved feelings. Alex is angry for most of the book, but underneath that anger you can tell he's still carrying feelings he never dealt with. I liked the tension between him and Emma, and I appreciated that the author didn't rush their history. Some scenes were intense, but that's exactly what I expected from a dark romance.

The thing I enjoyed most was the emotional conflict. Alex and Emma have so much history that even simple conversations feel loaded. The revenge angle kept me interested, but I found myself more invested in uncovering what actually happened between them years ago. Definitely a darker romance, so check the content warnings first.
